Investigation opened on 164 police officers in the Gezi Park protests

The Security Directorate has opened an investigation into 164 police officers for their suspected use of excessive force in the Gezi Park protests.



Police inspectors have begun investigating 164 police officers on claims of excessive force used to contain the Gezi Park protests. Out of the 164 police officers in question, 32 are police chiefs and the remaining 132 are police officers. A number of police have testified, while the remaining are expected to provide testimonies next week.

The majority of the police in question were assigned to Istanbul, Ankara and Hatay during the protests.
