Turkish police captured four men in connection with the murder of Muhammed Salih, a Syrian national who was reportedly a skilled sniper fighting on the side of Syrian rebels. Four Syrians were detained in Gaziantep, Uşak and Mersin provinces on charges of murdering Salih, whose body, with his face flayed, was found in an orchard in Mersin on Jan. 8. Suspects told police that they killed the victim for robbery. Abdulrazak Dakka, one of the suspects, said Salih paid him $2,500 for illegal travel to Germany, but later took it back when he changed his mind. Dakka told police he then plotted with others to kill the victim and stabbed him to death in a car before fleeing with $500 in his possession. They denied charges that they flayed the victim's face.
