Bosnian hamam restored by Turkey now open
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the İsabey bathhouse, one of the oldest structures in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, which was restored by Turkey. The building, which was in ruins before its restoration, was renovated by the state-run General Directorate of Foundations for over TL 2 million ($775,000). Adnan Ertem, head of the directorate, said it was the first foundation building restored by Turkey in a former territory of the Ottoman Empire. The bath house was built and donated for public use by Isa-Beg Ishakovic, an Ottoman general and founder of Sarajevo in 1461.
