New sultan born in the Ottoman dynasty after 11 year drought


One of the late prince's of the late Ottoman Empire, Osman Selaheddin Osmanoğlu has seen the birth of his ninth grandchild on Friday. His daughter-in-law, Alev öcal married to Prince Selim Süleyman, gave birth to a young and healthy baby sultan named Esma Emira at the Esma Sultan Palace in Istanbul. The number of living sultans from left since the fall of the Ottoman Empire is now 13 with the addition of Esma Emira. This is the first birth of a sultan into the Ottoman dynasty in 11 years. There was great concern after sultans were passing away in succesion with no births of new ones. Prince Osman Selaheddin is from the lineage of, from the father's side Sultan Murad V and from the mother's side Sultan Mehmed Reşad. He has two sons and one daughter from which he has now nine grandchildren. There are also 25 princes from the Ottoamn dynasty still alive today.
