Turkey honors its soldier killed on duty by naming an airstrike after him


Turkey's latest operation in which 30 warplanes departed from the Diyarbakır 8th Main Jet Base to conduct heavy airstrikes on PKK camps in Northern Iraq,has been named in honor of Corporal Hamza Yıldırım who was killed by terrorists in PKK's attack on Turkey's southeastern province Şırnak.The 'Hamza Yıldırım' operation conducted by the Turkish Air Force started simultaneously with Yıldırım's funeral prayer at Ankara Kocatepe Mosque . Targeting PKK camps in Zap, Gare and Medina, two tanker aircrafts gave support to the 30 Turkish F-16's belonging to the 181st fleet in Diyarbakır.Parliament President of the Assembly Ismet Yilmaz, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, Chief of General Staff Necdet Özel and commanders attended the funeral ceremony.In the attack in which Yıldırım was killed, two other soldiers, Infantry Lieutenant Ibrahim Tanriverdi and Kaan Kandemir were also murdered by the PKK.
