Google doodle marks Turkey’s Republic Day


Google created a doodle on Thursday to mark the Republic Day of Turkey on October 29, which is the commemoration of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic in 1923.On its welcome page, Google Turkey changed its regular logo with a doodle, in which the second "O" of the company's logo was changed into a view picturing Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's house in Istanbul's Şişli district with a Turkish flag waving above. Each year, Turkey marks the Republic Day on October 29, which is the anniversary of Turkey's declaration as a republic.The official recognition of the Republic took place on October 29, 1923, by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. On that day, the new name of the nation and its status as a Republic was declared.After the declaration and a vote in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Atatürk was unanimously elected as the first president of the Republic of Turkey.
