Turkey's Cooperation and Coordination Agency, TİKA, has provided aid to hundreds of Afghan families who fled conflict in Kunduz and Faryab provinces, the organization said Tuesday."Humanitarian materials consisting of food packages and blankets have been distributed to a total of 350 families; 180 war-affected families living in Kunduz and 170 families in Mazar-i Sharif," said the agency.TIKA's coordinator in Mazar-i Sharif, Kemal Kadir Karadoğan, said the aid packages were composed of rice, powder, sugar, tea, tomato paste and blankets."We, as Turkey, will always continue to side with the Afghan people," added Karadoğan.Turkey's consul-general to Mazar-i Sharif, Mustafa Erdeviren, plus local Afghan media, were also present while distributing the packages.Last October, TIKA provided 600 families affected by the conflict in Takhar province with food assistance, as well as providing healthcare to refugees living at Haji Camp located in Mazar-i Sharif.Kunduz city and Faryab have frequently been the scene of intense fighting between Taliban insurgents and government forces, backed by international air strikes.
