The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has on Wednesday elected AK Party's former Konya deputy İlhan Yerlikaya as its new president.Esat Çıplak, a RTÜK member from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), was elected as the new deputy chairman.The nine-member RTÜK, responsible for monitoring, regulating, and sanctioning radio and television broadcasts, is selected by the parliament based on each party's number of seats.The council currently consists of four members from the ruling AK Party, two each from the Republican People's Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and one from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
