Media Association criticizes bans on media institutions


The Media Association released a statement on Thursday criticizing the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and Supreme Election Board (YSK) for bans and fines on media institutions throughout Turkey during the June 7 and Nov. 1 elections.The statement read that with the formation of the 64th government of Turkey, it is clear that imminent forward steps will be taken while some establishments continue their unjust habits left behind from the Turkey of the past with the thought of "This is the chance." The Supreme Election Board handed out unjustified record fines to TV channels including the likes of A Haber, TV Net, 24, Ülke, TGRT Haber during the June 7 and Nov. 1 elections. The Radio and Television Supreme Council followed suit issuing fines to similar radio stations. As the Media Association:As we are certain that the newly formed 64th government will give an end to this injustice and put forth successful reforms, we invite for the swift resolution for the end of unjust actions that have become an open wound of the YSK and RTÜK.
