A senior operative within the alleged Gülenist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) has filed a complaint against U.S. secretary of Homeland Security, the director of the FBI and other American officials for delaying his residency permit for investors. Cevdet Türkyolu, referred to as "Uzun," or "Tall," is known to be the imam in charge of the "Private Affairs" within the Gülen Movement, which is headed by Fethullah Gülen, a fugitive from Turkish justice and currently residing in Pennsylvania.In the filing at the United States District Court Eastern District of Pennsylvania dated Sept. 2, Türkoğlu called on all relevant authorities to decide within 30 days. Among the defendants included in the file is Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Citizenship and Immigration Services Secretary Leon Rodriguez, California Service Center Director Kathy Baran and FBI Director James B. Comey. The complaint says Türkoğlu, who resides at Gülen's mansion in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, made a money transfer of $545,000 to the New York Immigration Fund (NYIF), which builds hotels, on May 7, 2013 and had applied for a residency permit including his wife and two children. While the law dictates a response within 13.5 months, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services failed to grant his request despite approving applications from other investors.May this year, he received an email notifying him that his application was still under consideration. Türkoğlu's application will become invalid on Dec.11, when the U.S. Senate reviews the program under which the country grants residency to investors. If the senate decides to increase the money invested from the current $500,000, Türkoğlu's application may be rejected. The case is being overseen by Judge Stewart Dalzell, who has previously skirted controversy by approving the permanent residency of Gülen in 2008, describing the fugitive imam as a foreign national with "Extraordinary Ability" despite previous rejections by U.S. authorities. Türkoğlu is being represented by Klasko Immigration Law Partners, which also represented Gülen in 2008 and charges $500 for half an hour for consultancy.
