Manhunt continues for 2 missing children

Authorities resume search for two children, aged 8 and 5, missing in the northern Turkish province of Tokat from Dec. 29. The manhunt was suspended as the water was drained in a dam near the spot where 8-year-old Bayram Erol and 5-year-old Dursun Kağan Taşçı went missing, where the Kelkit river flows to the dam. The disappearance of the two children from Tokat's Reşadiye district, who were last spotted in a playground on Dec. 29, has triggered a manhunt from Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) with the assistance of helicopters, search and rescue crews. A special team of investigators from Ankara was dispatched to the province to help locating the children. Families are pleading to the public to alert them if they spot the two children. Their lengthy disappearance also sparked rumors that they might have been kidnapped.
