Turkish army kill 11 PKK terrorists in Turkey's southeast

Eleven PKK terrorists have been killed in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province, the military said Sunday.

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the terrorists were "neutralized" during a counter-terrorism operation Saturday. Five Kalashnikov assault rifles were seized during the operation.

On Sunday, the governor of Hakkari, which borders Iran and Iraq, declared a curfew in Hakkari's Yüksekova district.

The PKK - listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July. Since then, more than 290 members of the security forces and thousands of terrorists have been killed.
