No communication breakdown when disaster strikes

A new system installed by the Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) will ensure there is no communication breakdown in the event a disaster, natural or otherwise, strikes the country.

The Continuous and Secure Communication System will utilize 4.5G, fiber optic cables, satellites and wireless channels through 150 centers established across the country to maintain a secure communication system. All channels will be utilized and one will go online if others are disconnected. The system will first be tested in Ankara, Diyarbakır, Zonguldak and Eskişehir before being expanded to cover the entire country by the end of 2018.

The system will also be able to receive and send audio, photographs, emails and data, and allow AFAD to coordinate among various agencies that get involved in disaster relief.
