The 8^th Chamber of the Council of State, Turkey's highest administrative court, unanimously overruled Friday a case demanding the annulment of the Ministry of National Education regulation that allowed Islamic hijabs to be worn in secondary education, which covers the country's middle schools and high schools.

A parent whose child was going to middle school brought the case for the annulment of the regulation that allowed hijab as part of the dress code for schools, arguing that the regulation was against the requirements of the Turkish national education system and secular education.

The members of the court unanimously ruled against the case.

The decision is open for appeal at the higher body of the Council of State.
