5 PKK terrorists killed preparing attack from hidden tunnels in Turkey’s southeast

Turkish security forces on Sunday have killed five PKK terrorists who were preparing to attack from hidden tunnels in the Yüksekova district of Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province.

After security forces identified the terrorists who were preparing to attack, the terrorists were called to surrender but when they refused and opened fire they were shot dead.

Scores of grenades were found in the terrorists' hideout.

The PKK terror organization has started to experiment with different methods to counter the Turkish police and army, who are jointly driving the terror organization in a corner.

Tensions have been high in southeastern Turkey since the PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU ended a nearly two-year long ceasefire and resumed their 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, over 350 members of the security forces were killed and thousands of PKK terrorists were killed in operations across Turkey and Northern Iraq. Turkey designates the PYD – the Syrian affiliate of the PKK – as a terrorist group.
