Eight PKK terrorists killed, two surrendered during operations in Turkey's southeast

Eight armed PKK terrorists were killed during counter terror operations in Turkey's southeastern Mardin and Şırnak provinces, the military said on Sunday.

Reporting incidents from the previous day, the Turkish General Staff said four terrorists were killed in the Nusaybin district of the Mardin province, and four across the neighboring Şırnak province.

Two other terrorists surrendered in Şırnak and in the Elazığ province, the statement added.

Assault rifles and grenades were seized during the operations.

The PKK is listed as terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU. Security forces have been conducting anti-terror operations since late 2015 in an effort to clear PKK terrorists from urban areas in the country's southeast.

More than 400 security personnel have been killed since the PKK renewed its armed campaign in July. Around 3,700 terrorists have been killed in the same period.
