Turkish warplanes bombed shelters and underground storage facilities of the PKK terror organization in Northern Iraq on Friday night, the Turkish General Staff (TSK) announced on Saturday.

The airstrike was carried out at 11:00 p.m. (GMT+3) late Friday with four F-16 and 14 F-4 2020 warplanes.

According to the statement of the TSK, all identified targets were succesfully eliminated.

Two other airstrikes destroyed PKK targets in rural areas of Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province.

The PKK renewed its armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015 after a two-year-long ceasefire period. Since then, the military has been conducting airstrikes on PKK camps in in Northern Iraq to terminate the threat the militants pose to Turkey.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
