Istanbul expo to delve into smart cities

Istanbul will host Smart City Expo, a three-day event on smart cities which maintain sustainable development and improve life for their residents through technology.

The event will kick off Wednesday, and is organized by the Istanbul Municipality together with Fira Barcelona, a Spanish organization. Daily Sabah is among the sponsors of the event, which will bring together 10,000 local administrators and smart city professionals.

Smart City provides a common ground for potential investors for smart city applications.

Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is among the speakers on the first day of the event at Istanbul's Sütlüce Congress and Exhibition Center. The mayors of Istanbul and Iran's city of Tabriz, as well as the deputy mayors of Helsinki and Casablanca, will convey their experience in transformation of their cities in a forum with a panel of mayors.

Other panels will see discussion of mobility, energy, entrepreneurship and economic development, innovation and technology, smart society, big data and urban management aspects of smart cities.
