An Orthodox church in the southern İskendurun district of Hatay province hung a banner across its front facade, celebrating the holy month of Ramadan. The banner read, "We celebrate the holy month of Ramadan throughout the Islamic world."

The church is located on one of the busiest streets of the town. It is owned by the İskenderun Greek Orthodox Church Foundation.

Orthodox Christianity is today the religion of only a very small minority in Turkey. The provinces of Istanbul and Hatay are the main centers of Christianity in Turkey, with comparatively dense Christian populations, though they are still very small minorities in these areas. The traditional variant of Orthodox Christianity present in Turkey is the Eastern Orthodox branch, focused mainly in the Greek Orthodox Church.
