2 killed, 3 injured in PKK bomb attack in Derik district of southeastern Diyarbakır province

Two soldiers were killed and three were injured on Wednesday in a bomb attack on an armored military vehicle in the Derik district of the southeastern Diyarbakır province.

The PKK terrorists were reported to detonate the hand-made bomb while the military vehicle was passing by the district.

The injured soldiers were taken to the Derik State Hospital.

Formed in 1978, the PKK has been fighting the Turkish state for an independent Kurdish state since the 1980s. The group then shifted its goal to autonomy in the predominately Kurdish regions of Turkey.
