Soldier killed in clash with PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey

One Turkish soldier was killed, another injured Saturday during an anti-terror operation against PKK in Lice district of southeastern Diyarbakır province.

The soldier was killed in clashes between the security forces and terrorists during a police search in Lice, where a curfew was declared on Friday. One terrorist was also killed in the operation.

Operations in the district are still underway, the sources added.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, and resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
