Germany says terror suspect 'a test for ties'


Deniz Yücel, a terror suspect detained in Turkey in February, has once again become a pawn for Germany to threaten Turkey with.Yücel, who holds both German and Turkish citizenship, is a journalist working for Die Welt and was the subject of a campaign for his release.Turkish authorities granted consular access for Yücel but that apparently did not end complaints by Berlin, which is seeking his release.German Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Roth said on Tuesday that Yücel's case was "a big test of German-Turkish relations" and said they would push for his release.Yücel is accused of terrorist propaganda, incitement of hatred as well as helping hackers linked to terrorist groups by disseminating their propaganda and was a suspect in an anti-terror investigation.
