An international competition on Quran recitation, memorization and writing the Muslim holy book ended at the Presidential Palace in capital Ankara Wednesday. Jordanian, Turkish and Iraqi participants won top titles in three categories and received their prizes at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Some 120 contestants from 62 countries competed at the event organized by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (DİB) at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul over the past five days.

Jordan's Omar Akhalzu'bi won in the memorizing category while Turkey's Habib Deveci came first in the recitation (tilawat) category. Iran's Syed Mostafa Hossein came second in the same category. Iraq's Hadi Kadhim Nayyef won the calligraphy category.
