A retired police officer's gun became stuck to an MRI machine for approximately two hours, causing panic at a hospital in the Nazilli district of western Turkey's Aydin province.57-year-old retired policeman Beyhan Ş. had taken his 80-year-old father-in-law Necati K. to the Nazilli State Hospital for an MRI scan, when he entered the scan room forgetting that his weapon was attached to his back.Beyhan Ş. was trying to help his father-in-law into the machine when his gun reacted to the powerful magnetism and became stuck to the MRI device.Despite all their best efforts, police officers could not remove the gun from the magnetizing device, which has a market value of one million dollars.An officer noticed that the trigger of the gun had been pulled and informed an official of the private company that rented out the MRI machine.

The company official then attempted to remove the gun from the device by placing a hard object on the trigger mechanism to prevent a possible firing. The gun was finally dislodged after being connected to the end of a five-meter-long copper wire and pulled away from the device by five officers.After the weapon was removed it was revealed that there was no bullet in the gun barrel.

The company officer filed a complaint against the retired police officer, who took his gun and apologized for the mistake.
