Iranians flock to Van in eastern Turkey for Eid al-Fitr holiday


Thousands of Iranian tourists who want to spend their Ramadan holidays in Turkey have flocked to Van near the border.

While hotels, which were working at a 10 percent capacity during the month of Ramadan, are now full, and shopkeepers are happy about Iranians going on shopping sprees.

It was reported that many Iranians are doing their bayram shopping in Van. Iranian national Faren Mahamedi said he did his shopping in Van, Turkey because it was so close.

"We will spend our bayram here." Haniyeh Jahani said, "I love it here. I come to Van at least once a year. I also love Lake Van."
