In dozens of accidents across the country over the weekend, the first two days of a 10-day holiday, nine people were killed and 99 people were injured as of mid-yesterday.The government decided to combine the Aug. 30 Victory Day with the four-day Eid al adha between Sept.1 and Sept. 4, turning disparate holidays into a 10-day holiday, which pushed millions on the road toward resorts.While Istanbul during the weekend was surprisingly free of traffic, the same cannot be said of the inter-city roads, with dozens of kilometers of traffic on main arteries. Main transportation hubs, including the enormous bus terminal at Bayrampaşa, Istanbul, saw record traffic, which continued into Sunday.
