Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.1 and 4.2 rattled the Turkish provinces on the Aegean coast without damage.

The first quake was recorded in the Ayvacık district of western Çanakkale province at a depth of 6.37 kilometers at 11:12 a.m. local time, Turkey's Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.

The region was rocked by hundreds of earthquakes and aftershocks causing minor damage in February. A magnitude 6.3 earthquake on June 12 caused significant damage in the Greek island of Lesbos, located some 15 kilometers south of Ayvacık.

AFAD stated that the second quake was recorded in the Milas district of the southwestern Muğla province at a depth of 12.22 kilometers at 11:33 a.m. local time.

The earthquake was also felt in the Aegean resort town of Bodrum, causing some locals to evacuate buildings in panic.

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit Turkey's western coast resort towns of Bodrum and Datça and the Greek island of Kos on July 21, also triggering a minor tsunami.

The earthquake caused minor damage and injuries in Turkey, while two people died and dozens were injured in Kos. Hundreds of aftershocks were recorded in the area in the aftermath of the quake, prompting locals and tourists to spend the nights in parks and beaches for days.
