Three Turkish students die in car accident in US


Three Turkish students who were part of a group of four young people visiting the U.S. as participants in a work and travel program died yesterday in Jefferson Davis Parish in the state of Louisiana in a car accident.

The students were traveling from the Texas state capital of Austin when their car crossed the median on Interstate 10, crashing into a pickup truck on the opposite side of the highway.

Tuğbanur Karakaş, 21, Özge Nur Mollahmetoğlu, 22 and Didem Deniz, 21, all died at the scene, while the fourth student in the car, Fatih Turhan, was severely injured.

The driver of the pickup truck, Paul Albert, was also injured, according to Louisiana state police.
