Turkey celebrates World Post Day with special envelopes

Turkey's Post and Telegraph Organization (PTT) celebrates Oct. 9, which marks World Post Day, with special note papers and envelopes.

To emphasize the importance and sentimental value of sending letters and encourage people to send more posts to their beloved ones, PTT makes special note papers and envelopes available at its every office around Turkey for free of charge. Those who want to mark World Post Day by sending letters will only pay the post fee.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU), whose founders included Turkey's PTT, has been active since Oct. 9, 1874. Currently UPU has 192 country members and Turkey is the chair of the union.
