Sabah Columnists Club, a Turkuvaz Media Group initiative bringing together journalists from Daily Sabah and its Turkish-language, sister publication Sabah, is hosting a group of journalists from around the world for a program to promote Turkey and inform them about the post-coup process, in the aftermath of last year's deadly coup attempt.

Freelancer and The Guardian contributor Jad Salfiti, Daniele Ranieri from Italy's Il Foglio, Benny Van Alboom of Belgium's De Morgen, Rakesh Sinha of the Indian Express, Hossein Latif from Aujourd'hui la Turquie and Manolis Kostidis of Greece's Skai TV are attending the program, which is being sponsored by Türk Telekom.

Daily Sabah Editor-in-Chief Serdar Karagöz, Daily Sabah columnists Kerem Alkin and Ozan Ceyhun, Sabah columnist Şelale Kadak, Takvim daily's Hasan Basri Yalçın and Daily Sabah ombudsman İbrahim Altay are also attending the program being held from Oct. 26-30.

Foreign journalists will also be hosted at the 54th Antalya International Film Festival sponsored by Sabah.

Established after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt - a turning point in Turkey's democracy - the Sabah Columnists Club aims to provide facts about the process leading to the coup attempt, which was masterminded by the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), a shady organization with infiltrators in the military. In cooperation with the state-run press directorate, Sabah Columnists Club has hosted panels about the coup attempt in London, Washington, Brussels, Berlin, Moscow, Shanghai, Beijing and New Delhi. The panels also cover relations between Turkey and host countries.

Despite having been the subject to what amounted to a disinformation campaign in Western media following the coup attempt, Ankara has endeavored to bring those responsible for the putsch attempt to justice. Ankara criticizes Western countries for being reluctant in cooperating with Turkey in its fight against FETÖ. Several European countries, including Germany, still harbor fugitive FETÖ members, according to Ankara.

It is the first time that the club is hosting foreign journalists in Turkey but will not be the last time. More journalists from around the globe will be invited to similar events held in December, April and July.
