One killed, 7 injured after baby-naming fight turns violent in southern Turkey

One person was killed and seven others injured after a couple's argument over naming their new-born baby turned into a violent fight between families in southern Osmaniye province of Turkey.

According to the reports, both parents, Niyazi and Emine Çeçan, wanted to give their father's name Nuh and Hasan, respectively, to the newborn baby, who is also the fifth child of the couple.

The disagreement escalated after Emine Çeçan left her home, resulting with an armed confrontation between extended families.

During the clash, 23-year-old Musa Çeçan, the mother's brother, was killed. Musa was on a 10-day military permit and set to return to his service station in Northern Turkish Republic of Cyprus.

Police detained 10 people in connection with the fight.
