Erdoğan calls girl who cried for not meeting him

After a video of Irmak Ayşe İstek, 4, crying because she was not able to see President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to the central city of Yozgat went viral, the girl received a surprise phone call yesterday from the president who invited the young girl to the Presidential Palace.

İstek was among children who would meet Erdoğan during the president's visit to Yozgat last weekend, but his meeting was canceled when he had to leave early due to bad weather in the region. The girl's mother uploaded a video online showing the girl in tears saying she loves Erdoğan.

During their phone call, Erdoğan comforted the girl and asked how she was doing at school and pledged to meet her next week. When the girl told him she was excited to meet him, Erdoğan responded, "I am excited too."
