33 injured after minibus carrying illegal migrants rolls over in eastern Turkey

Thirty-three people were injured after a minibus carrying 51 illegal immigrants, including a pregnant woman and 10 children rolled over in Turkey's eastern Ağrı province Tuesday.

The minibus heading to the city center from Doğubeyazıt district carrying 51 migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan, reportedly entered the country from Iran.

The vehicle reportedly had a carrying capacity of only 15 passengers in total.

Seventeen of the wounded migrants were taken to Ağrı Hospital, and two of them remain in critical condition, reports said.

The remaining 15 of the injured were taken to private hospitals nearby, while the pregnant woman was taken to the local gynecology and children's hospital.

The driver Mehmet Ö. and the 18 illegal migrants were taken into police custody after undergoing a health checkup.

The minibus involved in the accident was towed to a car park for police investigation.
