The government will recruit licensed volunteers to fight forest fires, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced Wednesday.

Under new regulations, volunteers can apply to the local forestry authority and will undergo training before being handed certificates to be forest firefighters.

They will also be given equipment to fight fires.
