At least 11 people are dead and 27 others injured when a tour bus collided with a truck on a highway in western Türkiye’s Manisa province on Sunday, local authorities said.
The accident occurred near the Akhisar toll booths on the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway at around 11 a.m. local time, according to a statement from the Manisa Governor’s Office.
The tour bus was traveling from Bursa toward Izmir in western Türkiye when it collided with the truck near Akhisar, in Manisa province, the statement said.
Following reports of the crash, numerous ambulance, firefighting and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Rescue operations were launched to assist those affected by the accident, while the injured were transported to nearby hospitals.
The Manisa Governor’s Office confirmed that 11 people had died and 27 others had been injured in the crash, extending its condolences to the victims’ families and wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi confirmed the casualties, saying emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene and authorities were closely monitoring the situation.
