A Hungarian tourist visiting the Manavgat district of Antalya province in southern Türkiye embraced Islam after being inspired by verses from the Quran. Petrin Kornel, 42, decided to become Muslim after researching the religion.

A conversion ceremony was held for Kornel at the Manavgat District Mufti Office, where he was informed about the basic principles of Islam.

Kornel then recited the Shahada and embraced Islam, taking the name "Abbas.”

Speaking after the ceremony, Abbas said reading the Quran had brought a sense of peace and calm to his life.

"As I read the Quran, I began to feel a sense of calm, humility, relief and peace that I had never experienced before,” he said.

"These feelings made me feel that I was on the right path. After choosing Islam, I feel that my life has changed and that there is a different sense of peace in my heart,” he added.

The ceremony concluded with a prayer by Manavgat District Mufti Oğuzhan Kadıoğlu, who congratulated Abbas and presented him with a certificate of conversion and books published by Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs.
