A concrete mixer in southern Türkiye spent 45 days out of service for an unusual reason: a pair of doves had made a nest on it.

In Hatay province’s Kumlu district, mixer driver Mulla Biçer noticed the nest while inspecting the vehicle before starting work. When he saw eggs inside, he alerted company officials, who decided to keep the mixer parked until the birds could safely leave.

A note reading "Caution, bird nest” was placed near the nest to warn workers, while the mixer remained idle and the doves were left undisturbed.

For about 45 days, Biçer waited as the eggs hatched and the young birds grew. Once the chicks had left the nest and taken flight, the mixer was finally put back to work.

"Our birds on the mixer have flown away,” Biçer said. "They left the nest about a week ago, and we witnessed them flying away. After they left, we started operating the mixer again. Thank God.”

For Biçer, the long wait ended with the sight he had been expecting: the young doves taking flight and the concrete mixer returning to its daily rounds.
