12 Turkish warplanes have destroyed PKK terrorist targets in Zap and Metina regions in Northern Iraq, in two separate operations on Friday, the General Staff said in a statement.

According to the statement, four F-16 jets have participated in the operations carried out in Zap region and destroyed ammunition storage, shelters and blockhouses belonging to the terrorists.

In Metina region, eight Turkish F-4 2020 jets destroyed PKK positions based on intelligence.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, around 300 members of the security forces and thousands of PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
