13 PKK terrorists, 1 sniper killed in Yüksekova district
Thirteen PKK terrorists were killed in security operations over the past two days in the Yüksekova district of the southeastern province of Hakkari.
In the first stage of the operations, three PKK terrorists fleeing to Şemdinli in Hakkari from Yüksekova were killed on April 10. Among those killed was a well-known sniper from the PKK's Yüksekova organization, carrying a Zagros rifle inside a guitar case.
A sketch indicating a house in Yüksekova was found, and security forces raided the house in the morning. The raid found 39 AK-47 rifles, and around 4,000 bullets were confiscated. The terrorists were using the house for shelter and to store ammunition.
In another operation on the same morning, 10 other terrorists, cornered in a rural area of Yüksekova in a previous operation, were killed after clashes with security forces. Dozens of rifles, pistols, explosives and equipment were also confiscated.
A PKK attack kills one soldier, injures 47 including civilians, in Diyarbakır
The PKK terrorist organization carried out a bomb attack in southeastern Turkey targeting security forces, killing one soldier, and injuring 47 others including eight civilians, according to reports from the Turkish army.
The PKK terrorist group detonated a car bomb near a military police station and military lodgings in the town of Hani in Diyarbakır late on Monday. A military statement on Tuesday raised the number of those wounded in the attack to 47 from initial reports of 25.
"One of our heroic comrades was martyred, 39 heroic comrades were injured, and six of their relatives and two civilians were also injured after members of the separatist terror organization detonated an explosive-laden vehicle," read the statement.
The army said the injured were being treated at Diyarbakır's Military Hospital.
Hours after the gruesome attack, the Hani Peace Court imposed a broadcast ban on the attack and ruled that coverage, interviews, and any other kinds of news were banned until the investigation was finalized.
Since the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – resumed their 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state last July, more than 350 security force members have been killed and thousands of PKK terrorists have been killed.
