One soldier killed, 6 wounded in clashes against PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey


One soldier was killed and six others wounded in an armed clash against PKK terrorists in Dağlıca area of southeastern Hakkari province, a statement by the Turkish General Staff said on Sunday.

The statement said that six terrorists were killed in the clash.

Clashes have been ongoing in the area since Thursday, when Turkish soldiers came across with a large group of terrorists trying to infiltrate into Turkey from northern Iraq. Six soldiers were killed in the clash, while two soldiers were killed due to a helicopter crash.

Another soldier was killed on Sunday in an ensuing operation in Dağlıca region. Turkish jets also pounded PKK targets in northern Iraq and southeastern Turkey.

The area is known as the main route used by the terrorists to infiltrate into Turkey from camps located in northern Iraq.
