Turkish army, coalition forces kill 8 Daesh terrorists in northern Syria

At least eight Daesh terrorists were killed on Saturday in northern Syria in an operation by the Turkish Armed Forces and the U.S.-led coalition, according to security sources.

According to Turkish security sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity Sunday, Turkish army howitzers -- known as Fırtına ('Storm' in Turkish) -- hit 11 targets, which were preparing to attack Turkey.

The targets consisted of weapon pits, Katyusha rocket launchers and mortars, the sources said.

The coalition forces conducted three airstrikes on Daesh positions in Syria, the sources added.

Turkey's southeastern province of Kilis has faced a spate of cross-border rocket attacks from Daesh in recent months.
