CHP deputies protested at funeral of slain police officers

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputies faced a protest and were attacked with eggs in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa on Wednesday.

People demonstrated against the CHP group, which included Balıkesir Deputies Namık Havutça and Mehmet Tüm, Istanbul Deputies Mahmut Tanal and Dursun Çiçek, Uşak Deputy Özkan Yalım, Trabzon Deputy Haluk Pekşen, Muğla Deputy Nurettin Demir and Samsun Deputy Kemal Zeybek. Some also threw eggs at the deputies.

Following the incident, the police dispersed the demonstrators and the CHP deputies left in their vehicles.

Previously, the committee faced a protest in the same province on Wednesday for "making propaganda" in the front yard of a hospital they were visiting. Making a live broadcast on Periscope criticizing the conditions at the hospital, Tanal filmed the reaction of a relative of a patient. "We don't complain about our state. We are content with our government and state," the protestor chanted to Tanal, before many joined him later on.

Prior to that, CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu faced protests at the funeral ceremony of two officers killed in a car bomb attack in Istanbul.

Before the funeral prayer held at Fatih Mosque, several protesters took off the paper on a wreath bearing Kılıçdaroğlu's name and moments later the wreath was taken out of the mosque courtyard.
