2 soldiers killed by PKK terrorist attack in Siirt


Two soldiers were killed when PKK terrorists set off explosives previously planted in a vent-hold near Siirt-Eruh road late Wednesday in southeastern Turkey.

According to reports, the explosion took place as the armored vehicle carrying soldiers was passing by Karaboğazı village in Siirt.

Another soldier, who was critically injured by the terrorist attack was taken to Siirt State Hospital to receive treatment.

The explosion, which took place near the woods, was followed by fire.

Security forces launched operations to catch the terrorists who carried out the attack.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guardsand more than 5,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
