The opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Vice Chairman Bülent Tezcan called on U.S. administration to extradite the leader of Gülenist Terror Organization (FETÖ), who is on self-exile in United States.

Speaking to private broadcaster CNN Türk, Tezcan said: "The U.S. must extradite Fetullah Gülen," and added that the respect must be mutual between international actors.

Criticizing the U.S. stance on Turkey's state of emergency, Tezcan also said that what Turkey experienced during the July 15 failed Gülenist coup attempt and its state of mind is not different than what Americans went through after September 11 attacks.

Highlighting the cooperation between the opposition parties and the government, Tezcan added: "We share our opinions with the Prime Ministry. They listen to us. We are working together to overcome this period."

Ankara has repeatedly called for the U.S. administration to extradite Gülen to Turkey. On July 15, a Gülenist faction within Turkish military attempted deadly coup, which killed more than 230 people and injured nearly 2,200 others. Turkey says the coup was organized by U.S.-based figure Fetullah Gülen's followers and the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

Gülen is also accused of running a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the parallel state.
