Deputy PM: Troops at large may carry out attacks
Fugitive soldiers of the recent coup attempt may organize attacks against the Turkish state, the country's deputy prime minister, Numan Kurtulmuş said Tuesday.
"They and those collaborating with them may take some individual actions, [carry out] assassinations. They may attempt cyberattacks," he said during a live broadcast on the Habertürk television channel.
"We need to be on the alert from now on. The state is on the alert with its all departments. It is cautious to get rid of all kinds of possible threats in the future," he said, adding that there are currently 216 fugitive soldiers.
All state departments should be cleared of individuals who have ties to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), according to Kurtulmuş.
