Briefings from the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and relevant bureaucrats during the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan assert that the threat from the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) is not finished, as a FETÖ cyber-attack was prevented last week.During a Cabinet meeting attended by MİT Chief Hakan Fidan and Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar, the risk of further cyber-attacks against governmental institutions was indicated, according to sources close to MİT. The reports highlighted the threat of the assassination of members of the government, with the president at the top of the list. MİT told cabinet members about possible assassination targets, including various political figures as well as certain journalists and stressing that necessary security measures will be taken.

Striking examples were shared, revealing an affiliation between FETÖ and the PKK due to the actions of certain generals serving in the southeast, known to be FETÖ members. The reports indicated that last year some division commanders did not carry out any operations, despite being informed that senior leaders of the PKK terror organization were gathering in northern Iraq. The notice included the names of the participants as well as the time and location of the meeting and was ignored by commanders currently under arrest, per documentation submitted to the Cabinet.

The reason why more soldiers were killed in the Nusaybin district in the southeastern province of Mardin was blamed on FETÖ-linked commanders, all currently under arrest. The briefing indicated that those commanders who blame the governor of Mardin for the death of soldiers are now under arrest, while the governor hasn't been imprisoned.The case of coup plotter General Semih Terzi was also addressed. Terzi was serving in the southeastern district of Silopi before he came to Ankara to participate in the coup attempt, along with a group of high-ranking soldiers. Information regarding Terzi failing to carry out many counterterrorism operations in various regions, including Silopi, was shared with the Cabinet, while reports showed that troops in the district of Hatay bordering Syria were abandoned upon instructions from FETÖ-linked commanders.
