Two soldiers killed by PKK terrorists in Şırnak


Two soldiers were killed yesterday by PKK terrorists in the Uludere district of the southeastern province of Şırnak.

Media reported that a group of soldiers detected a PKK bomb buried along the roadside outside the village of Andaç bordering Iraq and attempted to dismantle the explosive.

During a search, PKK terrorist snipers opened fire at the soldiers. Two soldiers, including a lieutenant, died from wounds despite being delivered to Uludere State Hospital.

Following the incident, security forces launched ground operations backed by air support.

Earlier today, the PKK also detonated a roadside bomb in Yeşilova region, on the Iraq border, 70 kilometers away from Şemdinli, as an armored military vehicle was passing by. Three soldiers were injured in the attack.

PKK kills village guard in eastern Turkey

A member of a counterterrorism village guard was killed on Tuesday in the eastern province of Bingöl. Provincial Governor Yavuz Selim Koşger said one village guard was killed and another injured when PKK terrorists launched an attack in the village of Ortaçanak. The wounded man was taken to Bingöl State Hospital for treatment.
