PKK terrorists have carried out a terror attack in Turkey's southeastern Siirt province. An improvised explosive device, planted by the PKK on the highway of Siirt's Eruh district, was detonated while a truck carrying village guards was passing by on Sunday morning.

Five village guards were injured by the blast and taken to hospital. The water supply network in the city was also damaged as a result of the explosion. Services are underway to repair the network.

The PKK terrorist organization has increased its deadly terror attacks since it unilaterally ended peace negotiation in July in 2015.

The two-and-a-half year-long peace process, which was initiated by the Turkish government in 2012 when the current President Recep Tayiip Erdoğan was prime minister, aimed to resolve the long-run conflict in Turkey.

Since the ending of the ceasefire in July last year, the terror organization has killed hundreds of people, including security personnel and civilians, not only in southern Turkey but also in western part of the country.

Following the increasing terror attacks by the PKK, which is listed as a terror organization by the U.S. and EU, the Turkish government has intensified its counterterror operations.
