While the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has established provincial monitoring commissions to rid the party of members of the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) that have infiltrated various party organizations across Turkey, the party administration has sent out a warning stating that those affiliated with Gülenists will be discharged from the party if they refuse to resign.Four AK Party municipal mayors of the Aşkale, Çamoluk, Ilgın and Nar districts – in the respective provinces of Erzurum, Giresun, Konya and Nevşehir – were discharged from the party on Friday, due to their ties with FETÖ. The intra-party members believed to have infiltrated the party were formally discharged in accordance with decisions made at meetings of the Central Executive Board (MYK).The allegations of FETÖ links to AK Party members is determined by whether they made money transfers with Gülenist Bank Asya following the Dec. 17 and 25 coup attempts, and whether they have used encrypted communication programs such as ByLock, a program widely used by Gülenists. The AK Party administration will investigate suspected members to learn if they attended FETÖ meetings or if they continued to send their children to Gülen-affiliated schools after Dec. 2013.The four AK Party municipal mayors were discharged on Friday based on these criteria, while many others are resigning in the wake of the warning message sent by the AK Party administration. Sources close to the AK Party said that a classified report on suspected members of FETÖ is being prepared and presented to AK Party chairman and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım regarding the formal discharge of other suspected intra-party FETÖ members. Once the decision is finalized by the AK Party administration, the names of those who will be formally discharged will be announced after the MYK meetings.
