HDP deputies continue to attend terrorist funerals

Alican Önlü, Tunceli deputy from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), drew ire when he attended the funeral ceremony of a PKK terrorist killed in a counterterror operation in eastern Tunceli province on Wednesday.

Despite the HDP's claims that they do not support the terrorist organization, this is not the first time the party's members have attended the funeral of a terrorist.

Previously, Ziya Çalışkan, Şanlıurfa deputy for the HDP, attended the funeral ceremony of a PKK terrorist, Ali Baybariz, who attacked a police station in Adana and killed two police officers in southern Adana province on July 31. He also referred to the PKK terrorist as a "martyr" and said that they will stand up for them.

In a more controversial example, HDP deputy Tuba Hezer attended the funeral of the terrorist who perpetrated the Ankara car bombing on Feb. 17, which killed 28 people, mostly civilians, and wounded 61.
